Weather Changes Sunday’s Hunger Walk Plans

CWS/CROP News:

Winter weather has changed this year’s Hunger Walk plans. The route for the CROP Hunger Walk & Turkey Trot is much too icy and slippery to traverse Sunday, Nov. 24, so everyone is invited instead to come to theLos Alamos Middle School cafeteria for a celebration of anti-hunger efforts.

The gathering begins as early as 1:30 p.m. Sunday to collect all monetary and food donations, hand out gorgeous t-shirts designed by Helene Chavez, enjoy some light refreshments, and, at about 2:30 p.m., hold a random drawing for turkeys and pumpkin pies.

Everyone is welcome! Checks can be made out to CWS/CROP in any amount. Twenty-five percent of all monetary donations will go to support L.A.Cares. The other 75 percent goes to CWS/CROP or to one of its partner organizations, a list of which will be at the door. Donations of non-perishable food will go to L.A. Cares, a Los Alamos food distribution agency.

The organizing committee encourages you to come – this is the best chance ever for you to win a free turkey or pumpkin pie for your eating pleasure. They want you to know that, much as we all love our physical therapists and chiropractors, they would rather not send half the town to see them due to injuries from this event. So, in the meantime, the committee is baking and gathering refreshments to share with you, so the celebratory spread of post-race, “get your blood sugar up” food, can still be held. See you a little before 2 p.m., Sunday in the LAMS cafeteria!
