LANL: Natural Resource Damage Assessment Public Comment Period Extended 30 Days

LANL News:

The Los Alamos National Laboratory Natural Resource Damage Assessment Trustee Council (LANL Trustee Council) announces a 30-day extension to the public comment period for the Draft LANL Natural Resource Damage Assessment Plan.

The Trustee Council released the draft assessment plan last month, followed by a public meeting about the plan. The comment period will run through Jan. 13.

Letter to the Editor: Snow Removal Issue

I read the letter from the county reminding people to shovel their sidewalks. What about reminding the county that many of us do shovel, only to have the county come blasting down the streets and throwing snow (twice as much and about five times as heavy) back on the sidewalk?

We try very hard to keep the sidewalks clear. We live on a curvy hill, and the plows come down fast and furious and make the situation worse for those of us who do shovel … even when we wait until it has stopped snowing, as the county suggests.

DARRELL PATRICK (BOSCO) HOHNER Aug. 17, 1932–Dec. 5, 2013

Darrell Patrick (Bosco) Hohner passed away at home in Los Alamos, N.M. on December 5, 2013. He was eighty-one years of age. He was born to Fred W. Hohner and Myrtle Hohner (Keenan) of St. John, Kansas on August 17, 1932.

Bosco moved to Los Alamos with his parents and sister, Nancy, in 1946. He graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1950, was active in sports, and excelled in his favorite sport of baseball. A 3-vehicle accident on the truck route has brought traffic to a standstill at 6:20 p.m. today. 

Los Alamos Fire Department EMS has transpoted four patients to Los Alamos Medical Center.

“The Nutcracker” is a fixture in Los Alamos. Watching the ballet Friday night, I could not think of a better way to kick off the holidays.

This is Dance Arts Los Alamos’ 16th “Nutcracker.” The ballet depicts a young girl who dreams about a journey into the Land of Sweets on Christmas Eve. This year, DALA brought on a new director, Jonathan Guise, and some new features were mixed into the show.
