LAPD Holds Drug Take Back Day Sept. 27
LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department will hold its bi-annual DEA Drug Take Back initiative, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 27 at two locations:
- Site 1: Los Alamos Medical Center Parking Lot, 3917 West Road in the specifically the parking lot along Trinity Drive; and
- Site 2: White Rock Visitors Center Parking Lot, 115 N.M. 4.
Collection sites are registered on the DEA’s website: https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov
Residents are encouraged to drop off unused or unwanted prescription medications as well as medications from a lost loved one or other circumstances with no questions asked. Read More

This month’s Military Order of the World Wars speaker will be Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone. He has been an officer for more than 23 years, but has been in Los Alamos less than a year. He will talk about a vision for the police department and issues impacting the community.

LANL: Learn About Counseling, Referral Services
LANL News:The public can learn about services offered by Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Employee Assistance Program at three, free informational sessions at the Bradbury Science Museum in downtown Los Alamos.
The one-hour, interactive presentations are scheduled 9-10 a.m. Sept. 16, Sept. 23 and Oct. 21 and open to Laboratory employees and the public. Attendees also will have the opportunity to ask questions.

FOREST SERVICE News:
SANTA FE–Fire managers from Santa Fe National Forest’s Espanola Ranger District have been working with the support of the City of Santa Fe, the Nature Conservancy, the Santa Fe Watershed Association, and New Mexico State Forestry to develop a long-term plan to improve forest health in the Santa Fe Municipal Watershed. Several fuel reduction treatments have been completed to date and another prescribed fire will be conducted as soon as weather conditions are favorable, perhaps as early as next week.
