The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office has completed the required canvass process to certify and finalize the 2016 Special Los Alamos Public Schools All Mail Election results.

Legislation Allowing Adjunct Teachers Passes House

STATE News:

SANTA FE – House Bill 145, a bill that would allow adjunct teachers, passed the House with bipartisan support on a 37-25 vote.

The bill would allow New Mexicans with at least a bachelor degree to teach part-time without having to go back to school and get a teaching degree. The proposal would help bring much-needed expertise back to the classroom and make it easier for dedicated professionals to invest in New Mexico students.

Obituary: Steven Ray Marshall Jan. 11, 2016

STEVEN RAY MARSHALL Jan. 11, 2016

Steven Ray Marshall, age 40, a resident of White Rock, NM, passed away on January 11, 2016.

He is survived by his parents Fredie and Rita Marshall, sister Shela Marshall, nieces Cheriece and Aries Margiotta and nephew Vincent Margiotta.

Steven was a graduate of the class of 1993 at Los Alamos High School. He loved to watch his favorite teams, the San Francisco 49er’s and the Boston Red Sox.

There is a Memorial Fund set up at Los Alamos National Bank in the name of The Steven Marshall Memorial Fund. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thirty Five Local Musicians Performing In Sunday’s Music Marathon At UNM-LA For Scholarships

UNM-LA News:

Thirty Five local musicians will perform at the 6th Annual Music Marathon 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31 in the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos Student Center in Building 2.  

The benefit concert will raise money for scholarships for students attending UNM-LA. Since the concert lasts six hours, the audience is welcome to come and go.

I encourage you to keep entertaining us, David. I couldn’t remember one of my favorite columnist’s names when I wrote this and had to look up Dave Barry. I found, “Dave Barry has been a professional humorist ever since he discovered that professional humor was a lot easier than working.”
