Wind Gusts Kick Up Dust At Los Alamos Airport

With the gusty Spring winds, the construction activities at Los Alamos County Airport are kicking up thick clouds of dust. Here’s a view taken today from a residence near the east end of San Ildefonso Road on North Mesa. Construction crews should consider spraying water on this site to keep the dust down. This would make things better for anyone using the hiking trail along the airport perimeter and for people living a little further east on North Mesa. Photo by Richard Hughes

By DOUGLAS REILLY
Los Alamos

We read and hear everyday of the increasing humanitarian crisis of hundreds of thousands of refugee families and unaccompanied children trying to escape the fighting and dying in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and other countries.

The photos of temporary camps in Turkey, Greece, Italy, other European countries, and the Middle East states named above, leave me horrified by this human disaster.

Designing A Simple Life – The Art Of Less
By SUZZETTE FOX

It’s been a rough month. Our community has lost some very good people. It’s times like these, I reflect on life’s big questions. Am I making a difference in my community, to my family? What more can I do to educate others that their choices make a difference and effect our world in either a positive or negative way?

I have realized that the sustainable lifestyles concepts about which I often write are relative. I want to expand my definition of simple, sustainable living to include sensitivity, Read More
