The final UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) “A Day in the Life Of …” speaker is Josh Stringer from Los Alamos Schools Credit Union. The talk will take place from 2-3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, on the UNM-LA campus in room 203 as well as via Zoom.

N.M. College Enrollment Increases For 4th Consecutive Year

SANTA FE — College enrollment has increased in New Mexico for the fourth consecutive year, the New Mexico Higher Education Department announced today, according to preliminary fall enrollment data from universities throughout the state. 

There are 4,016 new students pursuing a degree in the fall 2025 semester, up 3.6% from the fall 2024 semester, bringing the total number of degree-seeking students in New Mexico to 113,991.

Española Humane Temporarily Closes Shelter To Public

ESPAÑOLA — Española Humane announced Nov. 19 that combined roof replacement and mold remediation work has significantly reduced the shelter’s operating capacity, prompting a temporary closure to the public and a suspension of most animal intakes.

FBI: Morgan Lake Man Charged With Assault

ALBUQUERQUE — A Morgan Lake man has been charged with assaulting an officer using his vehicle.

According to court documents, Sept. 28, 2025, officers from the Navajo Nation Police Department responded to a report of a suspected drunk driver. When they arrive in the area, the driver, Kendall Benally, 42, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, refused to obey commands and attempted to flee in his vehicle, striking and injuring an officer and a marked unit in the process. LAPD UPDATE: Main Hill Road Has Reopened

LAPD News:

UPDATE: The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) reports that the Main Hill Road has reopened following this morning’s two-vehicle accident.

“The Main Hill is now open, and all the involved vehicles have been removed,” Cmdr. Daniel Robert said. “We thank the community for their patience.”

Cmdr. Roberts said that one of the individuals involved in the accident did sustain injuries and was transported to Los Alamos Medical Center for treatment.

FBI: Shiprock Man Pleads Guilty To Second-Degree Murder In Shiprock Home Break-In

ALBUQUERQUE — A Shiprock man admitted to breaking into a home and killing a man who tried to stop him from attacking another resident.

According to court documents, June 27, 2025, Armondo Paul, 25, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, went to a home in Shiprock, New Mexico. He shut off the electricity to the home, then kicked open the back door and assaulted one of the occupants.
