Y Launches Champions Of Values Movement
YMCA News:
This Fall, several staff members at The Family YMCA are wearing a badge declaring them the “Champion of” one of the Y’s four core values. Those staff members were chosen by other staff because they were observed representing that Core Value observed in interactions with other staff, Y members and guests.
They wear the Champion Badge for about a week, then choose another staff member whom they feel has exemplified that core value. Everyone is encouraged to ask about that badge and talk about what that value means to them.

Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) has come to Los Alamos! Kiro (pronounced Cairo), a yellow lab, will be with Jacinta Lestone of Proton Pawsitive Dog Training for the next 20 months. He will learn his basic commands and how to behave appropriately in public, including in businesses such as the grocery store or restaurants. By VERNON KERRWhat does a white cane mean to the ordinary citizen of Los Alamos? Mostly the answer is, “I don’t know.”
A white cane is a device used by a class of handicapped citizens in order to move about in a sighted world. Not all blind people are totally blind. Many have limited vision such as those who have glaucoma, pigmentosa or macular degeneration. The cane signifies that the person is blind though some persons out of vanity refuse to be identified by using a cane.

What a great golf tournament held Sept. 16! If you were able to join us for this year’s “Hackfest” Par 3 event, THANK YOU! It was an awesome morning!
We had 40 golfers hitting shots not many of us have ever attempted on this course and I hope never will again (at least not until next year).
We were well fed by Cottonwood on the Greens and also well taken care of by LAGC staff. Thank you Pavel (Listwan) and your team as well as Donnie (Torres) and your team for an exceptional outing.
