Pajarito Mountain & Los Alamos Ski Club Host Ullr Fest Saturday

Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, in partnership with the Los Alamos Ski Club will host Ullr Fest this Saturday, Oct. 1.
 
Ullr Fest is a community event honoring Ullr, in hopes of bringing a good ski season to Pajarito Mountain this winter. The event includes a brewfest, two concerts, a downhill mountain bike race, a disc golf tournament, and a costume contest.

Saturday’s Ullr Festival includes live music from noon to 5pm by JJ and the Hoolians, and Bronach Celtic Blues. The New Mexico Craft BeerFest is noon to 5 p.m. and the $15 cash entry fee includes tastings, a complimentary glass, and one free pint of beer. Additional pints are $5 each, cash only (there are no ATMs at Pajarito). Proceeds benefit the Los Alamos Ski Club.

Bathtub Row will introduce beers produced by their new brewer, Nic Boyden. Santa Fe’s Chili Line Brewery will be back for their second festival. Enchanted Circle out of Angel Fire will participate for the first time. Other breweries include La Cumbre, Blue Heron, Boxing Bear, Chili Line, Second Street, Taos Mesa, Tractor and the Unquarked Wine Room.   

“What better way to honor Ullr and get excited about ski season than to enjoy Pajarito Mountain with a beerfest, live music, a mountain bike race, and a disc golf tournament,” Festival Director Thad Hahn said. “Ullr Fest is one of Pajarito’s largest fall events that our community and guests absolutely love.”

Lift-served hiking and mountain biking is offered 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A Downhill Bike Race is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with an award ceremony on the deck  The Disc Golf Tournament starts at 10:30 a.m. Wear your favorite Ullr costume to the event! Prizes will be awarded during the costume contest for the best adult male and female costumes, group costumes, and boy and girl kids’ costumes.  

Atomic City Transit (ACT) is providing a free shuttle from Los Alamos High school between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., departing every 30 minutes. Pajarito Mountain’s Café is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
