New Mexico Launches Statewide Education Network

ALBUQUERQUE — Monday, New Mexico’s Statewide Education Network (SEN) became operational, connecting the first public schools in what will eventually become a comprehensive statewide broadband network, linking public schools with their own school-centric high-speed internet across New Mexico.

Three charter schools in Albuquerque—21st Century Public Academy, Mark Armijo Academy, and Mountain Mahogany Community School—and all 27 schools in the Gadsden Independent School District in Santa Teresa, NM, are the first to be plugged into the new broadband network.

The most overused word in the recent primary was “bold”. Candidates were claiming they had bold solutions for New Mexico’s myriad problems and failings.

Las Cumbres Community Services Center (LCCS) in Los Alamos is a great resource and Community partner for the families of Los Alamos. Once monthly LCCS hosts a community parent group get together where parents and children can come and participate in fun and educational activities.

Free West Coast Swing Dancing And Lessons At Betty Ehart Senior Center Starting Monday July 1

Every Monday (except County holidays) from 7-9 p.m. everyone is welcome to free ballroom dancing and lessons at the Betty Ehart Senior Center Center. It is a Los Alamos County Activity organized by Terry Goodwin and Selmo Jaramillo. Every month they focus on a particular ballroom dance, and in July the focus is West Coast Swing.

Mountain Club swimmers won first place in the 2024 New Mexico Games held June 16 at West Mesa Aquatic Center in Albuquerque. Duke City Barracuda finished second and Kraken Team earned third.

SFCC Campus To Close For UPS Installation July 12-14

SFCC News:

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College announces a contractor will install an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) requiring a campus closure 5 p.m. Friday, July 12 through noon, Sunday, July 14.

During this period, all buildings at 6401 Richards Ave., will be closed, and no one will be allowed access during the time of the UPS installation.

Please be aware that some OIT systems will not be available during this time.

Nine New Mexico Companies Awarded More Than $2.4 Million In State Job Training Funds Including Spiritus Technologies PBC In White Rock

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) announced that it approved funding for up to $2.4 Million to assist companies in hiring and training New Mexico employees. The Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) approved this monthly allotment to nine New Mexico companies, including Spiritus Technologies PBC in White Rock.

SFCC, Kids Campus, SFHEC To Observe July 4th

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will observe Independence Day Thursday, July 4. No classes will be held, and no student services will be available. SFCC’s child development center, Kids Campus is closed July 1-5 for Summer Break.
