The Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC) announced today the appointment of David Jolly as chairman of its Board of Directors. He replaces outgoing Chair Bill Wadt.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to lead the LACDC Board and to use my retail experience which is something that the LACDC needs,” said David Jolly, general manager of Metzger’s Do It Best.

LARC board members and Sombrillo staff gathered together to wish her a happy retirement and thank her for her hard work. Maes began her career as an LPN in November of 1972. She has been working at Sombrillo Nursing and Rehab since April 15, 1994.

NLRB: Postal Service Deal With Staples Violates U.S. Labor Law

WASHINGTON, D.C.  The U.S. Postal Service illegally subcontracted work to Staples, according to a complaint issued June 26 by Region 5 of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
 
The complaint is a major blow to the agency’s deal with the office-supply chain, which set up postal counters staffed by Staples employees in hundreds of Staples stores.
 
“This is a major step in the fight against privatization of our public postal service,” says Mark Dimondstein, president of the American Postal Workers Union.
