New Mexico Angels Hosts DisrupTech – Early-Stage Technology From Los Alamos National Laboratory

BUSINESS News:

The New Mexico Angels have partnered with the Richard P. Feynman Center for Innovation at Los Alamos National Laboratory to host DisrupTech, a showcase of the disruptive technology currently being developed by scientists at the national laboratory.

The innovation event is set for 1-5 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the Los Alamos Golf Course Event Center. Eight entrepreneurial-minded scientists will present their early stage technologies in the areas of sustainable fracking, solar cell materials, biofuels, tamper forensics, neutralization of toxic chemicals, biotechnology, water treatment and industrial process improvement to DisrupTech attendees.

In true Shark Tank fashion, a review panel composed of entrepreneurs, investors, financiers and state economic development specialists will critique and evaluate each pitch on how compelling their technology is as a game-changing innovation.

New Mexico Angels and the New Mexico Startup Factory President John Chavez said that DisrupTech gives potential investors, companies, regional business leaders, and policymakers a rare inside look at the disruptive technology under development at Los Alamos and can help transition their ideas into the technologies that lead to new solutions.

“Seasoned early-stage investors know that you can’t wait until technology is deemed ‘market ready.’ You have to create relationships with scientists who are working on technology in your industry and area of interest. Those who attend DisrupTech will be the first to see and experience the work of the featured Los Alamos scientists in highly relevant technology areas, and have the first shot at engaging in tech transfer opportunities through the Feynman Center,” Chavez said.

In addition to showcasing technology, Los Alamos also seeks to ignite more entrepreneurial activities among its scientists.

“Our scientists are among the nation’s brightest minds,” Feynman Center Director David Pesiri said. “They are challenged to solve the major issues facing the world today. DisrupTech is an uncommon opportunity for leaders from private industry to review and inform our scientists.”

Tickets to DisrupTech are $35 and include the presentations and networking reception – purchase online at www.LANLDisrupTech.com.
