The final of three workshops planned on the tributaries of San Antonio Creek this summer is on the Santa Rosa Creek Aug. 17-19.
Santa Rosa Creek ia a major tributary to San Antonio Creek and is being severely impacted by increased runoff from adjacent slopes burned by the Las Conchas Fire.
During a July workshop, Los Amigo de Valles Caldera members and volunteers completed an array of 26 stone structures that were severely tested in a flood that Saturday evening. The structures came through in flying colors.

Los Alamos County Councilor Apologizes for Behavior During Trip to Russia

Los Alamos County Council Vice Chair Ron Selvage apologized today for an indiscretion he had with a woman while on an official visit to Moscow and Sarov last September.
“I did make a mistake on the Russian trip and it’s something that I regret and that I’m going to be paying for,” Selvage said this morning. “My wife and I are working through this and we would appreciate some privacy during this difficult time.”
The mistake Selvage is referring to is an inappropriate relationship he had with Nora Arbuckle, a member of the Sister Cities Initiative

FBI Seeks Identity of Woman Found Dead in Shiprock
FBI News:
The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an adult female whose body was found in an irrigation canal in the Paradise area of northern Shiprock in New Mexico.
The body was discovered at approximately 8 a.m. Sunday, July 22.
The woman is believed to have been Native American, approximately 25 to 40 years old. She was about 5’3” to 5’6” tall and weighed approximately 150 to 170 pounds.
She was wearing a yellow T-shirt, blue denim shorts, and Nike running shoes. Her hair was braided.
