NCRTD Announces Memorial Day Holiday Closure

NCRTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) has announced that the RTD “Blue Buses” will not be in service Monday, May 31, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

The exception will be the 255 RTD Mountain Trail to the Santa Fe National Forest, which will be in operation that day. 

NCRTD provides fare-free bus service on 27 of 29 routes to a service area that encompasses more than 10,000 square miles of north central New Mexico including the counties of Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe and Taos. Read More

SFNF: Low- To Moderate-Intensity Flames From Cuervito Fire Continue Moving Through Available Fuel Near Pecos

SFNF News:

Low- to moderate-intensity flames are continuing to move through available fuel on the Cuervito Fire’s interior near Pecos, putting some smoke into the air.

Fire managers expect the smoke to taper off over the next few days. Firefighters continued securing the southern end of the Cuervito Fire and mopping up along the edges.

New Mexico Fire Marshal’s Office: ‘Bosque’ Arsonist Probe Underway Into 18 Intentionally Set Wildland Fires

SANTA FE – The New Mexico State Fire Marshal’s Office / Fire Investigations Bureau, in conjunction with the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office, Valencia County Fire Department and New Mexico State Police, are conducting an active Arson Investigation within the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (Bosque). 

Starting around March 2020, approximately 18 intentionally set wildland fires within the Bosque, in the Valencia County District have caused destruction and have killed and/or injured wildlife in the area.

Following the Stage 1 Fire Restriction implemented Monday, May 24 by the Santa Fe National Forest, Bandelier Acting Superintendent Dennis Milligan and Valles Caldera Superintendent Jorge Silva-Banuelos would like to remind visitors that Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place year-round at Bandelier and Valles Caldera.
