Tuesday, April 23, Shakespeare’s birthday, volunteers across the U.S. and in Europe gave away thousands of paperback books with the goal of increasing interest in reading for light or non-readers.
An independent panel chooses the books, which are in any genre, modern or classic. Authors waive their royalties, and publishers agree to pay the cost of producing the special editions for World Book Night.
