SFNF Awards $1 Million Plus In Restoration Grants

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – As part of its Collaborative Forest Restoration Program, the Santa Fe National Forest has awarded more than $1 million in grants to restore riparian forests and watersheds, allow for the purchase of equipment to better utilize small-diameter trees and conduct the planning analysis for future restoration work.

The grants are going to the following recipients:

  • An award in the amount of $360,000 to Ohkay Owingeh tribe to conduct riparian restoration projects within the jurisdictions of three northern New Mexico Pueblos.

Those entering the halls of Los Alamos Middle School as seventh graders this year are invited to a special WEB Crew orientation 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the LAMS gymnasium.

Police To Issue Statement On Juvenile Suspect

LAPD News:

Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone said his department will issue an official statement regarding this morning’s seach and capture of a juvenile suspect thought to be armed and on the loose in the Grand Canyon area of White Rock.

For now he said, “Police were on foot pursuit of a possibly armed suspect in relation to an ongoing investigation. The youth is now in custody.”

Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone just told the Los alamos Daily Post that the juvenile suspect on the loose and believed to be armed in White Rock has been taken into custody.

News Alert: Police Search White Rock For Possible Armed Juvenile

LAPD News:

Los Alamos police officers are on foot and in patrol calls in White Rock searching for a juvenile suspect who may be armed in the Grand Canyon Park area.

The youth is about 5’8” tall and has shoulder length hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothes.

“We recommend residents stay indoors until we get a better handle on the situation,” Chief Dino Sgambellone said.
