SANTA FE  Rep. Conrad James pre-filed legislation, HB 120, which would ensure visitation rights of adult children if their loved ones are under the care of another person.
 
“Children should not be forbidden from keeping in contact with their ill parents,” James said. “When an ill parent is under the care of another person, it is imperative that their children are able to visit them and maintain that relationship under those difficult circumstances.”

NCRTD To Modify Eldorado, Edgewood And Turquiose Trail Routes With Reduced Services

NCRTD News:
 
Beginning Monday, Jan. 25, the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) will be eliminating the midday service between Santa Fe, and Eldorado and Edgewood.
 
Additionally, the Wednesday extension of the Turquoise Trail route from Madrid to Golden will be eliminated beginning Wednesday, Jan. 27.
 
In March, the NCRTD began providing a “midday” transit option between Santa Fe, and Eldorado and Edgewood, Monday through Friday on a six-month trial basis. Due to low ridership, the midday option will be eliminated.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — 8.7 percent of all income in New Mexico went toward state and local taxes (in FY 2012), according to the annual State-Local Tax Burden Rankings released this morning by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
 
The report highlights the state-local tax burden on taxpayers in each of the 50 states, details how much residents pay to their state and other states, and illustrates tax burden trends over time and within each state.

Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is offering a beginning snowshoe hike from Pajarito ski hill parking lot to Cañada Bonita 9-11 a.m. Saturday.

PEEC’s educator Siobhan Niklasson will lead participants along a showshoe trail maintained by the Southwest Nordic Ski Club and point out ecological features of the winter forest. This family-friendly hike will cover 3 miles and about 300 feet of elevation change.

FBI, Navajo Nation Investigate Armed Robbery Of Shiprock Restaurant

The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are looking for two men who robbed a Shiprock restaurant.
 
Jan. 14, 2016, at approximately 2:45 p.m., two unidentified men with knives robbed the Chat An Chew restaurant, located on Highway 64 in Shiprock. 
 
One of the robbers was described as approximately 5’8” tall with a medium build and between 20-30 years old. The second robber was described as between 5’4” and 5’6” tall with a thin build and also between 20-30 years old. Both of the robbers were dressed in black clothing and wore masks and gloves.
