LANL Closing Early Due To Snow Packed, Icy And Treacherous Roads

LANL News:

LANL’s Emergency Management has issued the following information to employees this morning:

Due to the current weather and road conditions, employees who have not arrived at the Lab are asked to turn around and return home. Roads are snow packed, icy and treacherous in many areas. Consequently, the  Lab will be closing early today.

Please note the following:

  • Employees who have children in the Los Alamos Public School system will be dismissed at 10 a.m.  
  • All other Lab employees will be dismissed at 10:45 a.m.

Schools And LANL To Begin Early Release Today

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools Superintendent Kurt Steinhaus has announced that the schools are letting out early today due to the storm.

Here is today’s early release schedule:

  • Busses will start at the Los Alamos Middle School with pick-up at about 10 a.m.; 
  • Los Alamos High School at 10:15 a.m.; and
  • Los Alamos Elementary Schools as close to 10:30 a.m. as possible.

WASHINGTON U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representatives Steve Pearce, Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Jan. 22 that several New Mexico Tribes are receiving a total of $12.6 million over five years for diabetes prevention and treatment programs. 
 
Tribes receiving funding include the Mescalero Apache Tribe and the Pueblos of Jemez, Taos, Zia, Zuni and Santa Ana, as well as the Indian Health Service Albuquerque Area. The grants are part of the Special Diabetes Program

Nizhoni is an 8-year-old boxer/shepherd mix. Nizhoni has been at the shelter the longest out of all the dogs and cats currently at the shelter, and shelter staff and volunteers can’t figure out why.
 
She is a great all-around dog who is house trained, crate trained, and does well with other dogs and kids. She knows basic commands such as “sit,” “speak,” and “roll over.”
