FLACL News:

The Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries (FLACL) have announced scholarship awards of $2,500 each presented to four Los Alamos High School seniors.

The scholarship application process required that each student present a written essay on a book that somehow enhanced their life or gave them a better understanding of the human condition.

The committee said that it was a rewarding experience to read the quality of the work presented to them from all the students.

The committee added that every one of the applicants should be commended for the effort and creativity with which they presented their essays.

FLACL was organized in 1978 and has provided additional support to our county’s library system for  more than 40 years. Some of this support comes from contributions made by a generous community.

Most of the support comes from the Friends Bookstore, through the donations made to, the sales made from and the benevolence of the wonderful volunteers who give their time at the store.

It is through this collective passion for knowledge and reading that enable the Friends to give so much back to this community.
