New Mexico Home School Speech And Debate Team Denied Entry To State Congressional Debate Meet
Members of the Jemez Mountain Home School Speech and Debate Team (and younger siblings who hope someday to be allowed to compete). The students wear duct tape because they feel that their first amendment right to free speech has been infringed, that their voices have been silenced, by the New Mexico Activities Association who is actively preventing their participation in high school speech and debate competitions in New Mexico. Letter To The Editor: Council Should Pursue Vice Chair O’Leary’s Budget Process And Format Proposal
By JOHN ARROWSMITHA few weeks ago Council Vice Chair Susan O’Leary proposed a change in the County’s budget process and format. Much of her proposal could improve County operations. In particular, her suggestion to move toward a programatic budget to help the Council and staff manage costs.

Gabel: Thank You Atomic City Transit
ACT staff reponds quickly to citizen concern over placement of bus stop in White Rock. Photo by Dan GabelWe all realize that the new ACT bus routes would have a few kinks to be ironed out.
I want to commend ACT for their quick response to a dangerous bus stop. When I got off the bus this morning, the stop had been moved half a block up Rover Boulevard so folks no longer need to balance on the curb or be in traffic near the busiest intersection in White Rock. Within two days of pointing out the issue, ACT staff had it done.
Thank you ACT! Read More

Los Alamos
Just because Los Alamos is the “richest city” in the country not everyone in Los Alamos makes $100,000 + a year. As a property owner here in Los Alamos, I’m getting real tired of being forced to pay for things I don’t, and will never, use!
I don’t have kids yet I’m expected to pay for the upkeep of the Schools. I don’t swim yet I’m expected to pay for a “Leisure Pool”. I don’t skate yet I’m expected to pay for the renovations to the Skating Rink. The list goes on and on and on and on. And, I will certainly never have a use for the “Rec. Center”.
I’m obviously not alone in this judging from Read More
