The boy’s competitive team from Los Alamos School of Gymnastics traveled to Rio Rancho during the weekend of March 12 to compete in the New Mexico State Championships. More than 100 gymnasts from eight teams competed in levels 4-10.

Deedi Stokes New LAHS Head Girls Volleyball Coach

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Athletic Department has hired Diana (Deedi) Stokes as Head Girls Volleyball Coach for the 2016-17 school year.

Stokes has coached for more than 20 years and previously spent a combined six years at the helm for the Toppers with an overall record of 87-33.

Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone was honored last week with the Patriotic Employer Award from the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) Santa Fe Volunteer Committee. The award recognizes Chief Sgambellone and Los Alamos County for being a patriotic employer. He was nominated for the award by LAPD Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson. SANTA FE  Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that New Mexico has joined Attorneys General from across the nation in an unprecedented coalition of 17 top law enforcement officials to protect and expand progress the nation has made in combating climate change.

A new sign was installed last week in front of the Los Alamos Golf Course on Diamond Drive and features the Cottonwood on the Greens restaurant. Golf membership is not required to dine at the restaurant, which is open to the public 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday. The Los Alamos Little Theatre has announced its 2016-17 line-up. LALT’s 2015-16 season concludes with Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling. The play, directed by Laurie Tomlinson, runs May 6-21. First, dear County Councilors, thank you for standing your ground on the new roundabout at Central and Trinity. It showed loyalty to our commuters. It was the right and thoughtful thing to do.

Second, this is about a plea – a recommendation – for utilizing the space in the center of the new roundabout.
