Letter To The Editor: Parent’s Perspective On Teacher

By A Los Alamos Parent:

I don’t have any first hand experience with Mr. Daniel’s (former LAHS drama teacher) facebook post or his comments at the XQ assembly that created controversy. I can only comment on what I have experienced as a parent of a student in his class. And suggest that perhaps the reason Mr Daniel’s contract was not renewed was because he did not follow school guidelines for publishing grades and was not a good teacher.

My daughter had Mr Daniel for Theatrical Design. I became concerned when about halfway through the semester Mr. Daniel had not yet

Pastor Raul Granillo: Seeking God

Pastor Raul Granillo
Los Alamos

Seeking God.

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1 NIV).

When was the last time you earnestly sought something? For some it may have been a certain person that they found themselves attracted to. For others, it may have been that desperately needed new job. Maybe you just sought after a friendship. Or perhaps you simply find yourself earnestly seeking happiness in your life. We all find ourselves seeking after something at one point or another.

Christine DuBois asked the Los Alamos Daily Post to alert the community about recent incidents of snakes biting dogs on local trails.

Her dog was bitten by a rattlesnake just northwest of Mitchell Trail Head at around 5:15 p.m. Friday. The snake did not warn before it struck her dog in the back leg. She rushed him to Smith Veterinary Hospital in Santa Fe where he received two vials of anti venom. While still unsure as to his prognosis, the vet was hopeful.

In another recent incident, a local search and rescue dog was bitten by a rattle snake June Read More

Sharon Schweitzer, an international etiquette expert, author and founder of Protocol & Etiquette Worldwide, offers these eight Read More

In the midst of political season, I like to remind people of an anonymous quote that has stuck with me over the years; “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”

There are numerous volunteer opportunities available

SHELTER News:

Maggie is a 13-year-old gray tabby recently surrendered to the shelter.

She’s hanging out in a larger kennel, since the kittens are a bit too rambunctious for her, but she loves company from visitors and volunteers. Maggie just wants a quiet home with someone to snuggle with. This sweet kitty is declawed, so she will need to be an INDOOR ONLY cat (as we prefer that all of our cats be, declawed or not).

Shelter hours are noon to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m., Sundays.

Cinema Cindy Reviews ‘Central Intelligence’

By CYNTHIA BIDDLECOMB
Los Alamos

“Central Intelligence” is a light and humorous spy movie pairing regular guy Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) with hard-body CIA agent Bob Stone (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson). The movie is entertaining and often delightful, if also occasionally silly. This duo could make future buddy movies; they play off each other well.
