The Pajarito Astronomers will be holding a County-Sponsored Dark Night at 8:15 p.m., (sunset) Saturday, July 22, at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park.

Los Alamos Home Prices And Condo Sales Rise

The median price of Single Family Home sales saw an increase or $319,000 in the 2nd Quarter of 2017 compared to $300,000 in the same quarter last year.
 
Single Family home sales dipped from 78 in the 2nd Quarter of 2016 to 58 this Quarter. Single Family home sales volumes noted the drop showing $24.8M in 2016 compared to $19.0M for the 2 nd Quarter of 2017. Condo and Townhome sales increased in the 2 nd Quarter of 2017 to 28 units sold compared to 20 units sold in the same Quarter of 2016.

BARBARA ANN (HAYGOOD) JUSTICE Nov. 18, 1933 July 2, 2017

Barbara Ann (Haygood) Justice, aged 83, passed away at her home in White Rock, NM, on July 2nd, 2017. She was with family at her passing.

Barbara was born November 18th, 1933, in Rensselaer, Indiana to Oren and Louise Haygood. She was one of 8 children. She married Dorwin Justice May 21st, 1955 at Lafayette, Indiana. They had two children, Robin (son) and Pamela (daughter). In 1965 the family moved to Albuquerque, and in 1968 they moved to Los Alamos.

Barbara managed convenience stores for 7-11 Company, Brewer Oil, and the San Ildefonso Pueblo. Read More

LAPD Officers In High Speed Chase

Los Alamos Police Officers were involved in a high speed pursuit Thursday afternoon, which ended in a Colorado man being apprehended in Nambe. Carl Johann Black, 37, of Colorado Springs faces several charges in connection with the chase.

It began around 1:45 p.m. when LAPD Dispatch notified Cpl. David Boe of a possible reckless driver in a silver mini-van traveling along Diamond Drive toward  the mesas. A fugitive wanted for defrauding the U.S. government of more than half-a-billion dollars was spotted in New Mexico in June.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky on Friday sentenced Eric C. Conn in absentia to 12 years in prison and ordered him to pay almost $170,000,000 in restitution, a $50,000 fine, and a forfeiture judgment of $5,750,404.
