SANTA FE All Santa Fe National Forest offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 19, in observance of President’s Day. Forest offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Feb. 20.
 
In honor of President’s Day, the Santa Fe National Forest will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites and amenities Monday, Feb. 19.

SANTA FE The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is now accepting applications for 2018-2019 Recycling and Illegal Dumping (RAID) Fund grants for scrap tire management, illegal dumping abatement, and recycling projects.
 
Municipalities, counties, solid waste authorities, cooperative associations (as defined in the RAID Act), land grant communities, pueblos, tribes, and nations are eligible for funds totaling $900,000. Early this morning, February 17, 2018, officers with the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) were involved in a police shooting. The New Mexico State Police was asked to investigate this shooting.

FBI, Navajo Nation Seek Help Identifying Body Found In Shiprock Fire

The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are seeking to identify a body found in a burned trailer in Shiprock, New Mexico.
 
The fire on Mesa Farm Road 4th Lane South was reported early Thursday morning, Feb. 8. The body of an unknown male was discovered inside the trailer.
 
The cause of death is pending an autopsy. Anyone with information on the victim’s identity is asked to contact the FBI at 505.889.1300.
 
The San Juan County Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.

LAPD Releases Details Of Officer-Involved Shooting

LAPD News:

 

Officers with the Los Alamos Police Department were involved in an overnight shooting that occurred around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, LAPD Cmdr. Preston announced this afternoon. No officers were injured in the incident.

The officers were investigating suspicious circumstances at a Los Alamos County facility located at the Pajarito Cliffs site, Ballew said.
