LAPD Releases Details Of Officer-Involved Shooting

LAPD News:

Officers with the Los Alamos Police Department were involved in an overnight shooting that occurred around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, LAPD Cmdr. Preston announced this afternoon. No officers were injured in the incident.

The officers were investigating suspicious circumstances at a Los Alamos County facility located at the Pajarito Cliffs site, Ballew said.

“During this investigation shots were fired by police and a pursuit ensued out of Los Alamos County and into the Espanola/Rio Arriba County area,” Ballew said. “It ended at Corlett Street in Espanola where the suspects left the vehicle and fled on foot.”

He said the suspects remain at large and the scene is still being examined to determine if any of the suspects were injured. Law enforcement officials from neighboring agencies participated in the pursuit.

“This is an isolated incident and we do not believe the public is in jeopardy,” Ballew said.

The incident is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau.

Further details will be released upon completion of the investigation, Ballew said.
