Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, today sent a letter to Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire demanding that a whistleblower complaint detailing an issue of urgent concern be relayed to Congress, as required by law.

Topper Football Nips Gallup At Homecoming Game

Photo-1 Once again on a Friday evening the Topper Football Team takes to Sullivan Field with Abran Chacon carrying the Topper flag and Alex Chavez carrying the hammer for a contest against the Gallup Bengals. On paper the two teams were matched up very closely and as the game progressed, the pregame prediction turned out to be correct. White Rock Crack Sealing Project Delay

COUNTY News:

The vendor performing the crack sealing on Bryce Avenue in White Rock this week had to cancel due to weather and other issues.

They have already issued door hangars for residents in this area. Residents should disregard the door hangars as the crew will not be crack sealing this week.

Weather permitting, the crew will resume work the week of Sept. 30. Door hangers will be re-issued the day before they anticipate resuming the project.

Senate Committee Maintains Ban On Horse Slaughter

Thursday, the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee included a provision in the FY2020 Agriculture Appropriations bill to maintain the ban on slaughtering horses in the U.S., thanks to Senators Tom Udall (D-NM), Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and Susan Collins (R-ME), all longtime leaders on the issue.

The Valles Caldera was known initially as the Baca Ranch, named after the original owners of it.

The Baca family had wanted it for sheepherding. Sheepherding grew in size after the 1880’s before declining in the 1940s. Up to 100,000 sheep were brought annually to the Valles Caldera to graze on its meadows.

Patricia Richard of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and formerly of Los Alamos, New Mexico, passed away on September 30, 2018, at the age of 91, with her daughter Rochelle holding her hands. She wanted her daughter, Rochelle, to be with her when she passed away and she was.

Patricia was born in Fullerton, California, and was married to Jack R. Richard for 51 years. They raised four children, Rochelle Courtney (Jim), Julie Frosch (Ron), Randy and Ronnie.
