Diamond Drive Paving 

Final construction work is wrapping up. Minor road work may continue this week as the contractor cleans up around utility manhole covers within the work zone; expect some periodic lane drops. 

North Mesa: Alamo, Sioux, San Ildefonso Road and Tsankawi Street Road & Curb Work

Traffic and Streets crews will be paving a section of road starting 8:30 a.m. Monday on San Ildefonso Road from Sioux to Alamo Drive. Flagging operations will be in place. Slow down Read More

Governor Orders Flags To Half Staff Immediately In Recognition Of Sen. Carlos Cisneros Lying In State

STATE News:

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has ordered all flags in the state to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Sen. Carlos Cisneros through sundown today, beginning immediately, in recognition of his lying in state.

Sen. Cisneros passed away Sept. 17. He is being remembered today for his life and honored for his service to the state at a memorial service in the State Capitol Building.

LAURENT (LARRIE) EDWIN CHIGBROW June 19, 1955 – Sept. 22, 2019

Laurent (Larrie) Edwin Chigbrow, age 64 of Los Alamos, NM, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Larrie was born on June 19, 1955 in Clay Center, Kansas. He graduated from Charlies M. Russell High School, in Great Falls, MT and went on to graduate from Montana State University in Bozeman, MT with a Chemical Engineering Degree.

He met his future wife, Barbara Drga, while attending MSU. They started their life together in Idaho where he worked for the Idaho National Laboratory for over 25 years. They then moved to Los Alamos, NM where Read More

Land Office Increases Collections 47 Percent Over 2018

SANTA FE So far in 2019, the State Land Office has collected more than $1.5 million from royalty audits, a 47 percent increase from 2018.
 
These funds were collected by the Royalty Management Division team after audits were conducted on Land Office business with Chevron, DCP Midstream, Marbob Energy, Dugan Production and Energen Resources.
 
The additional $1.5 million from 2019 royalty audits will add to the corpus of the Land Grant Permanent Fund, which funds public schools, universities

State Police Announce Sobriety Checkpoints And Saturation Patrols Across New Mexico In October

New Mexico State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and registration, insurance and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of October 2019.
 
NMSP is bringing awareness to these events in an effort to reduce alcohol related fatalities through continued media attention and intensive advertising.

NMDOH: Students To Celebrate Farm To School Programs For New Mexico Grown Week

SANTA FE Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, as part of “New Mexico-Grown Week”, students across the state will participate in special events and activities that highlight a variety of fruits and vegetables cultivated from local farms, hoop houses and school gardens.
 
Participating schools may prepare special meals featuring local produce, invite farmers into the classroom to discuss the importance of local agriculture, or have students plant their own school gardens.

Rotary Exchange Student Dufal Discusses France

Gabriel Dufal, the 2019-2020 Youth Exchange student hosted by the Rotary Club of Los Alamos, recently told members about his life and family in Lyon, the second largest city in France. His mother is a teacher; his father an accountant.
