Gabriel Dufal, the 2019-2020 Youth Exchange student hosted by the Rotary Club of Los Alamos, recently told members about his life and family in Lyon, the second largest city in France. His mother is a teacher; his father an accountant. Dufal arrived in New Mexico for the school year in early August and has already participated in both the Fair and Rodeo Parade and Homecoming Parade. He also has spent a weekend in Chama, riding aboard the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad with other Rotary youth exchange students assigned to District 5520, which encompasses all of New Mexico and west Texas. Dufal says his favorite school subjects involve sports, especially tennis, soccer, golf, and snow skiing. (He lives only two hours from the Alps.) He mentioned that he wanted to study abroad to learn more about different cultures and to be able to make informed decisions about his future studies and career path. Dufal is currently staying with the Metcalf family and will move to the Corliss home during the holidays. Photo by Linda Hull
