World Futures: Communication And Information Part 1

By ANDY ANDREWS
Los Alamos World Futures Institute

Every day we receive information through our senses, primarily through sight and sound.

Of course, one can expand and modify the simple perspective with other sounds such as music and warning signals or visual media such as art and other signals.

The key, however, is that these energy transmissions are created by humankind to send information. It is highly sophisticated Read More

Home Country: Billy The Town Dog

Home Country
By SLIM RANDLES

The first few days of summer vacation were hard on Billy. He was there, at his appointed post – that being the school crossing – at the right time of morning, but look as he may, he couldn’t find any kids.

He couldn’t find Martin, either. The perennial crossing guard, with his vest, sign and whistle, was home for the summer. So were the kids. School was out.

Billy, being the official town dog since Sally passed away on Doc’s porch, decided on the fourth day of no kids that he might as well do something else.

He cruised on down to the Rest of Your Life retirement home and got ear rumples Read More

By DAVE FOX
Los Alamos

The Man Who Spoke Through His Ears

The man who spoke through his ears
Had been listening for years and years.

It was discovered by his parents
When as a child he learned to speak
That his larynx would play back
Through his ears

The incredible leaks
Of all he’d ever heard
Throughout his listening,
But non-speaking years.

Thus, he became the official recorder of record,
With no flaws at all,
Of all the truths, half-truths, lies,
And tales too tall.

Not only the official recorder,
But the official play-backer, too.
For there was never any difference
between what he had heard

Former Lt. Gov. John Sanchez: Make History This November

By JOHN SANCHEZ
Former Lieutenant Governor
New Mexico

On a picturesque summer day in July, I stood alongside President Trump as he signed the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. The Executive Order is particularly important to me. I have had the good fortune of living the American Dream and now, thanks to President Trump’s leadership, future generations will have an opportunity to accomplish whatever they set their minds to.
