Samples of sweet and savory treats for Tea To Go-Go!

TOTH News:

Are you feeling a little claustrophobic these days wishing to “get-out” but not sure where to go? Wanting to renew a friendship from a socially acceptable distance? Are you missing tasty treats to accompany an afternoon tea? Would you like to support a wonderful cause?

Even in these strange times, a dedicated group of volunteers would like to help you address these longings! Additionally, you will be helping Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church (TOTH) with a very important mission – building a home for a family in Juarez Mexico.

These are difficult times for everyone but especially devastating for families struggling to obtain daily resources. Working side by side with the family themselves is truly a gift to all involved.

We will be working on the “House of Hope” project led by a group called Mission’s Ministries who provides many services from medical care, to after school programs and most amazingly to assisting with home building for financially challenged families in Juarez.

This will be TOTH’s 20th house building project! We hope to be able to get our hands dirty and personally assist with construction, but if this is not possible this year due to COVID-19, rest assured the money raised will be sent to build a home regardless of our physical presence. All proceeds from the tea will go directly to this fundraising effort.

The tea will include a wide variety of high-quality sweet and savory treats that use only the best tried and tested recipes with locally sourced ingredients. All food items will be handmade from scratch by team members and friends, offering a feast for the eyes, as well as the palate. Delicious samplings, assembled into a to-go box, along with tea bags ready to brew, are all created with care and delivered to you through a no-contact drive through pick-up (or even delivered to your home upon request).

Once you have the makings for the tea, the decisions about who to share it with, and where that adventure takes place, are completely up to you. We provide the food – you provide the venue!

Although the typical “sit-down” High Tea setting is especially loved by grandmothers, mothers and daughters, this year we have the possibility that the “take-way” option could be big for gentlemen, too, even younger guys looking for a unique date idea!

This COVID-19 era adaptation of the annual Trinity on the Hill High Tea, generally hosted in Kelly Hall, is taking it to the streets/parks/living rooms of Los Alamos and White Rock this year.

Los Alamos Landscaping and Petree Gardens have graciously allowed us to turn their parking lot into a “drive-thru” pick-up station 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 and arrangements for secure ordering and payment have been set up online.

So, although the logistics may vary in 2020, the delectable experience will not, nor will the effort to provide housing for a family in need. We hope this endeavor will help bring people together in small ways as they enjoy the goodies and company of friends and family – all from an acceptable 6′ social distance!
