State Accepting Applications To Support New Mexico Business Incubator Certification

EDD News:

SANTA FE — New Mexico business incubators have until April 2 to apply for grants of up to $150,000 through the New Mexico Incubator Certification Support (ICS) Grant program. 

Administered by the Economic Development Department’s (EDD) Technology and Innovation Office, the competitive grant helps non-certified incubators meet the requirements of the New Mexico Certified Business Incubator program.

Grants are open to all sectors, not just those in tech and innovation. All grantees are required to use these funds to pursue meeting certification requirements through the State’s Read More

The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers softball team hosted the Valencia Jaguars on Thursday for a non-district game played on Hope Field at Overlook Park in White Rock.

A few years ago, most drivers never thought about their catalytic converter. It’s a small part of the exhaust system that reduces pollution. But in the last several years, it has become one of the most stolen parts on vehicles across the United States.

Nationwide, catalytic converter thefts jumped dramatically—from about 1,300 reported cases in 2018 to more than 14,000 in 2020, eventually reaching an estimated 153,000 thefts in 2022.

The reason is simple: the metals inside the converter became extremely valuable.

Tree Pruning Scheduled On Central Avenue March 10-11

Los Alamos County advises residents that Southwest Fire Defense will be conducting scheduled tree pruning along Central Avenue, Tuesday March 10 and Wednesday March 11.

Crews will begin work at 4th Street and progress along the street toward Bathtub Row.

During this time, sections of the sidewalk within the work area will be temporarily closed. Clearly marked detour signs will be posted to guide pedestrians safely around the work zones.

FBI: Mescalero Man Gets 11 Years For Abusing Minor

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — A Mescalero man was sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court records, Feb. 15, 2025, John Albert Carrillo, Jr., 36, a member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, used force to commit a sexual act with a minor victim.

Carrillo pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor. Upon his release from prison, Carrillo will be subject to 10 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
