New Mexico State Police Arrest 23 Drunk Drivers Statewide During Independence Day CARE Operation
NMSP News:
During last weekend’s Independence Day holiday, the New Mexico State Police participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (CARE) operation across all roadways within the state.
The goal of the traffic initiative is that a strong law enforcement presence will have a direct effect on the driving behaviors of motorists during the holiday, and thus, reduce the number of crashes and increase motorist safety.

Construction continues today on the Natural Grocers store under development on a portion of the former Los Alamos Shriner’s Club property at 1459 Trinity Dr. At its Feb. 27, 2019 meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission approved a lot split and site plan to pave the way for the Natural Grocers store. Vehicle Accident Cleared From Main Hill Road
Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office responded this afternoon to the scene of an accident on the Main Hill Road. Initial reports indicate that at about 3:40 p.m., a woman drove her car into the rock wall near Anderson Overlook. She appears to have an injury on the front of her neck. Traffic was allowed to exit Los Alamos (eastbound) but those trying to come into Los Alamos (westbound) were diverted for a time to the Truck Route. Traffic is now running smoothly. Big Timber, Mont.: We have traveled to Big Timber for the past four years to attend a RV Campout with several other RVers who own Pleasure-Way RVs. Our gathering is the weekend of the Sweet Grass County Festival, which is similar to the Los Alamos Fair and Rodeo weekend. One of our traditions is to attend the parade each year. I was at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe the other day, officiating at the last farewell to a beloved former parishioner—a young wife and mother who succumbed, after many years’ valiant struggle, to unrelenting cancer. RTD 255 Mountain Trail Route In Service July 4 Weekend

The North Central Regional Transit District’s RTD 255 Mountain Trail Route into the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will be in service Friday, July 3 and throughout the July 4 weekend.
The route is operating on a reservation-only system. Face coverings are required to ride, and seating is limited to four passengers due to social distancing measures and the state order restricting groups to five or less.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD) announced a new directive to help better support LGBTQIA+ youth in care.
The nondiscrimination policy is the most inclusive and robust the Department has followed to date.
“We know LGBTQIA+ youth are underrepresented in the child welfare system, and unfortunately are still shunned by family members at an alarming rate just because of sexual orientation or other factors,” Secretary Brian Blalock said. “As an agency, we want to send the clear message that we support all of our youth. Los Alamos County’s Community Development Department and the Los Alamos Housing Partnership (LAHP) have announced that Cycle 5 of the Home Renewal Program opens July 1.

This emphasis on eliminating racism and bigotry is a wonderful goal without doubt, but counterproductive if violence and property destruction worsens the disease rather than cures it, for one does not solve injustice by being unjust—the obvious “two wrongs don’t make a right” wisdom.

The North Central Regional Transit District’s RTD Blue Buses will not be in service Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
The exception will be the 255 Mountain Trail to the Santa Fe National Forest, which will be in operation that day.
