New Gamma-Ray Observatory Begins Operations at Sierra Negra Volcano in Mexico

Robotics Night at the Bradbury Friday

HIVE News:

The Hive will hold a Mini Sumo Robot competition 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 in the theater of the Bradbury Science Museum in downtown Los Alamos.

The competition is open to all robots that meet the size and weight requirements.

Come by the museum to try your hand at a robot obstacle course, get “Bradbury” to throw a Frisbee, watch a live demonstration of bomb squad robots at work, visit the Arduino zoo, see the mini sumo robots battle it out, and get a chance to run the robotic arm on display in the defense gallery.

LANL Emergency Exercise Set For Thursday

LANL News:

Los Alamos National Laboratory is conducting an emergency-preparedness exercise Thursday, Aug. 22.

It is only  an exercise.

The Lab routinely conducts emergency exercises to test the preparedness of emergency response and other LANL personnel who would respond to an actual emergency.

During the exercise, employees should be aware of possible increased emergency vehicle traffic on some LANL roads in the Technical Area 3 area. “Exercise in Progress” signs will be placed in affected areas.

‘Friday Night at the Museum’ Returns with Robotics Night Aug. 23

Employees and the public can see and drive a variety of different robots at Robotics Night 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at the Bradbury Science Museum.

Robots from the Laboratory’s Hazardous Devices Team, the FIRST Robotics Leagues, UNM, Los Alamos, the Los Alamos Police Department and other local enthusiasts will be at the museum.
