Los Alamos County Fair & Rodeo Weekend Is Underway!
The Los Alamos County Fair & Rodeo got underway Friday and continues through Sunday. Events kicked off with the Summer Concert Friday night and this morning’s parade down Central Avenue.
The remainder of today and Sunday are filled with exhibits, the rodeo, and the Sheriff’s Cowboy Dinner & Dance this evening at the Posse Lodge.

Saturday Aug. 2
- Festival & Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park
- County Fair Exhibits, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mesa Public Library
- Pie Baking Contest, judging until 1 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park

LAPD: Charges Dismissed And Refiled Against Nadia Lopez
On July 31, 2025, the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) dismissed, without prejudice, all charges against defendant Nadia Lopez in Los Alamos Magistrate Court. (Speeding, careless driving and failure to maintain a traffic lane in the 2024 crash that killed Charlie McMillan).
The charges have since been refiled in Los Alamos Municipal Court.
This procedural decision was made to enable the department to have consistent legal representation throughout the judicial process. Read More

Los Alamos County Clerk Urges Property Owners To Re-enroll In Fraud Guard Alert Service
The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office is asking property owners to re-enroll in Fraud Guard, a free online property fraud alert service, after a software issue may have left some initial sign-ups incomplete.
Homeowners who have not yet joined the program are also encouraged to do so.

As Los Alamos County continues to promote sustainable waste practices, residents are encouraged to stay up to date on best recycling habits and proper trash management, especially in areas frequented by wildlife.
Recycling, what goes in and what should stay out.
1. Items that can be recycled:
- Clean paper / mix cardboard
- Clean cardboard that is broken down to manageable sizes
- Metal cans (aluminum, tin, and steel)
- Plastics labeled #1-7’s (must be rinsed and free of residue)

County: Utility Field Work Underway For Broadband Project

Los Alamos County officials have announced that field work for Los Alamos County’s Community Broadband Network (CBN) has begun, as crews begin utility data collection to support the design of this County-led fiber-optic network.
The effort will continue through September and involves assessing planned aerial and underground routes throughout Los Alamos and White Rock, including on some private property.

Aquatic Center Main Pool Open!

Los Alamos County staff have been working diligently to get the main pool operational. Due to their efforts, the Aquatic Center’s main pool will reopen at 12 p.m., today, Wednesday, July 30, with normal business hours.
As scheduled, the Main Pool and Therapy Pool will be open on Saturday, Aug. 2, and the Leisure Lagoon will be closed for scheduled maintenance through Aug. 24.

Effective Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, Atomic City Transit (ACT) will implement changes to its bus service around the Entrada/Los Alamos Cooperative Market area due to low ridership.
