LAAC News:

As summer winds down, the Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) is wrapping up its seasonal programming and preparing for a busy fall, filled with community arts events.

One of the highlights of the August calendar is the Annual Summer Arts & Crafts Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, on the lawn at Fuller Lodge. This free, family-friendly event attracts vendors from across New Mexico, offering handmade arts and crafts, food, cosmetics, jewelry, clothing, decor, and more.

Set against the historic backdrop of Fuller Lodge and nestled within the Los Alamos Arts and Cultural District, the fair provides a unique opportunity for the community and visitors to experience the region’s vibrant creativity.

LAAC is also wrapping up its successful summer camp season. Students from across the region (and even some internationally) participated in camps focusing on movie making, ceramic arts and other creative activities. Campers visited the Los Alamos Farmers Market, attended live Shakespeare performances by the Los Alamos Little Theatre, and shared meals with local seniors at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center.

With summer programming concluding Aug. 8, LAAC will transition to its Afterschool Art Education Program, which begins Tuesday, Aug. 12. The afterschool programs include a variety of art classes and open studios for young artists ranging from first grade through middle school, with new programs being added all the time.

Looking further ahead, LAAC is preparing a robust lineup of fall programming. The highlight of the season will be the Los Alamos premiere of SAFOS Dance Theatre: Stories From Home. Additional upcoming highlights include the Affordable Arts application launch, the announcement of the 2026 Fuller Lodge Art Center exhibit schedule, and the 45th Annual Fall Craft Fair. Seasonal favorites, including the Scarecrow Contest and Pumpkin Glow, will also return to downtown Los Alamos.
