Los Alamos Radio Shack owner Bill Cabral is reopening his store at 999 Central Ave., Suite 150 Monday.

The store has been closed for the most part since Oct. 6 when Cabral experienced chest pains while at work and left for what he thought would be a couple of hours while he ran over to the hospital for a quick check up.

It turns out he was having a heart attack. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital

LAHS Hosts 3rd Annual Career Fair Oct. 28

The Guidance Department of Los Alamos High School will host the 3rd Annual Career Fair noon to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct 28 in the A-wing lobby.
 
A number of career options will be represented by local employers and employees.
 
“It’s a great opportunity for students to meet with members of the community who represent the careers they may be interested in pursuing, and learning about what it takes to get there,” explained Cindy Black, LAHS guidance counselor.

Los Alamos County Receives 2015 Property Tax Levies From State

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has received its 2015 property tax levies from the New Mexico Department of Finance Administration (DFA).

The residential levy is 24.430 mills, an 8.17 percent increase from the 2014 levy of 22.584 mills. The non-residential levy is 27.496 mills, a 7.19 percent increase from the 2014 levy of 25.652 mills.

In dollar terms, these levies are respectively $24.43 and $27.496 per $1,000 of taxable assessed value.As an example, a house with an assessed market value of $300,000 has an assessed taxable value of $100,000 (1/3 of market). Assuming no other exemptions, the Read More
