Udall, Heinrich, Harris Introduce Legislation To Establish Body-Worn Camera Programs At CBP, ICE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) introduced the DHS Body-Worn Camera Act, which would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to establish pilot programs for body-worn cameras (BWC) at Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Elder Abuse Report Released By New Mexico State Advisory Committee Of U.S. Commission On Civil Rights

FBI: Sophia Zayas Gets 15 Years For Child Abuse Resulting In Death Of Her Two-Month Old Daughter

ALBUQUERQUE – Senior U.S. District Judge Robert C. Brack sentenced Sophia Monique Zayas, 36, Thursday afternoon in federal court in Las Cruces to 15 years of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release for her conviction on a child abuse resulting in great bodily harm charge. 

Zayas’ conviction arose out of conduct occurring Oct. 21 and 22, 2007, that resulted in the death of her 2-month-old daughter. 

Judge Brack sentenced Zayas based on a guilty plea entered Feb. 24, 2014.
