CMRW News:The Special Olympics began in 1968 and has amassed more than 6,000,000 athletes around the world.
Today, there are programs in more than 170 nations with numerous sporting events occurring globally. In a new interview with C.M. Kyrina Deschamp has been working hard this summer on her BMX bike
This past summer Deschamp spent most her time racing her BMx bike at Duke City BMX as well as other tracks throughout New Mexico and the southwest.
In March she competed in the USABMX spring nationals in Albuquerque and took home the first place title in her first nationals event.
She began the summer race season competing at Duke City BMX, she traveled to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the USABMX Las Vegas Nationals in July. The competition was a lot stronger

N3B employees organized and held the First Annual Danny Nichols Golf Tournament in July at the Los Alamos County Golf Course. In addition to organizing the tournament, employees participated in teams and competed for closest to the pin hole and longest drive contests. Employees and sponsors generously donated to the cause and raised more than $12,000 for LA Cares, a local independent organization, providing help to the needy of Los Alamos County with food and financial aid assistance for utilities or rent payments. Libby Nolen, 12, is the top predictor in the weekly pace race held Tuesday at rainy East Park with a 52 second differential from her predicted time.
Other accurate predictors are:
- Ted Romero at 54 seconds off and also the fastest finisher on the 3 mile course at 23:36;
- Mark Bjorklund with a 64 second difference;
- Jacqueline Nolan was 144 seconds off; and
- Lynn Bjorklund recorded a 214 second differential.
