Pastor Granillo: Encouraged
Pastor Raul GranilloI remember being discouraged when I was a kid because we were “poor”. It didn’t help when my older brother would tell me about how great his life was back when him and mom lived in Chicago. He would brag about her great job and how his toys were so absolutely amazing. I would look at mine and think, “This is just not fair. I’ll never have what he had.”
As an adult, I think it’s still easy for me to look around at the world and think, “I am so far behind successful people that I could never catch up.” It can be discouraging for anyone when we compare our lives to Read More

Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling ultimate bliss. – Alexander Dumas
This quote is from one of my favorite books, The Count of Monte Cristo. In it,Edmond Dantès has his life suddenly turned upside down as he finds himself serving a life sentence in a dismal prison. For all intents and purposes, Edmond should have no hope. I’ll stop there so as not to spoil it.
Like anyone else, I have also felt despair. No, I won’t pretend to have faced despair like Dantès. In fact, I won’t pretend to have felt despair that could compare to so many Read More

Pastor Granillo: Chasing Mice
By Pastor Raul GranilloIn this old nursery rhyme, a cat finds himself in the throne room of the Queen of England. I’ve never been in the presence of such an important person, but I would think that it would be a pretty big deal. I sometimes wonder how I might react or talk to some great dignitary? I can’t say how it would go, but I do hope that I would have enough sense to realize

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered today in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City to celebrate the canonization of Saint Teresa of Kolkata, as she will now be known.
“Mother Teresa, in all aspects of her life, was a generous dispenser of divine mercy, making herself available for everyone through her welcome and defense of human life, those unborn and those abandoned and discarded,” Pope Francis said.

Pastor Granillo: Numb
By Pastor Raul GranilloNumb.
“I’ve become so numb, I can’t feel you there
Become so tired, so much more aware
By becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you.” Linkin Park (Numb)
There are two things that we all do in this world, even if we don’t realize it. We are influenced by the world around us, and we become an influence to others. We reciprocate influence. This is not a bad thing, it’s just a real thing.
A problem occurs, however, when we allow ourselves to be influenced to a point of giving up our identity out of a fear of rejection. We sometimes allow
Kerr: Why Don’t People Go To Church Anymore?
By VERNON KERR
Los Alamos
A Good Question: Why Don’t People Go To Church Anymore?
One answer: I don’t need to go to church and I need that time to get ready for the coming week. I am a very busy person and I need that time to relax and take care of projects around the house.
Another answer: Church people are hypocritical and don’t live up to their standards. I can teach my own children about morals and right and wrong. As I find time.
And another answer: What’s the sense if GOD is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful why does he allow mayhem, sickness, poverty and war? What good is a church?
