Los Alamos Historical Society Offering Overnight Tour To Trinity Site

HISTORICAL SOCIETY News:

Trinity Site, the location where on July 16, 1945, the first man-made nuclear explosion was detonated, is open only twice a year, and the Los Alamos Historical Society is offering a guided tour to the site April 1 and 2 for the spring opening.

The Society’s Trinity Tour includes a two-day, one night experience via the Alamogordo southern approach through the seldom-seen interior of White Sands Missile Range.  Departure from Trinity Site will be out of the northern Stallion Gate, with a lunch stop at New Mexico Tech in Socorro.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Atomic Heritage Foundation (AHF) and the Los Alamos Historical Society (LAHS) have launched an online “Ranger in Your Pocket” program on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos.
 
As AHF President Cynthia Kelly explained, “We have collected over 500 oral histories of Manhattan Project participants. Now we are taking excerpts from these firsthand accounts to help visitors to the Manhattan Project National Historical Park appreciate what it meant to live and work on the project.”

LAMC Offers Free Monthly Physician Lunch Program At Senior Center

Los Alamos Medical Center has started a new community education program designed to help seniors improve and maintain their health and lifestyle.

The LAMC Physician Lunch Program is offered at the Betty Ehart Senior Center at noon on the second Friday of the month. The lunch program is free, courtesy of LAMC, and every month physicians will present on important health issues relevant to the senior population. Letter To The Editor: I Am Also A Victim

I am a victim of the nude photo scandal at the local high school. I however have a different view than that of the “Betrayed” news piece I read earlier today.

I, being a male, have been a victim. At least twice a week I have recieved nude photos from girls I didn’t want. I tried to get away from them, changing my phone number, my Snapchat, my email address. They wouldn’t stop.

These girls seem completely obsessed with me seeing pictures of their bodies. Never did they ask me if I wanted to receive them. Maybe we need to educate girls to be more modest, rather than blame the guys. Read More

PHOENIX  Aggressive and threatening phone calls by criminals impersonating IRS agents remain a major threat to taxpayers, headlining the annual “Dirty Dozen” list of tax scams for the 2016 filing season, the Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Tax Forms Now At The Library

Los Alamos County Libraries have received the most commonly requested income tax forms from the Internal Revenue Service and New Mexico Taxation and Revenue. Both Mesa Public Library and the White Rock Branch Library have State and Federal personal income tax forms as well as instruction forms in their lobby areas.

Four local students have shared details of atrocious behavior they say is underway by a group of boys at Los Alamos High School.

They said the boys created an iCloud account at the beginning of the school year “that’s going on right now”. They post nude and semi nude photos of their girlfriends and classmates in the iCloud, which now contains explicit photos of more than 100 local girls. The boys have passwords for posting and viewing the photos.
