Manhattan Project National Historical Park Offers Tours At Los Alamos

NNSA/DOE News:

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), in collaboration with the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Los Alamos Field Office and the National Park Service, will offer public tours of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park Oct 4, in Los Alamos.

Registration for the event is on a first-come, first-served basis. The day will consist of four tours of 25 people each, each lasting three hours. The LANL event complements the Oct 5, Trinity Site Open House located on the northern portion of White Sands Missile Range near San Antonio, N.M.

Council OKs Ordinance For Land Transfer To LAPS

LAPS News:

The Los Alamos County Council unanimously voted Tuesday, Aug. 27 to approve an ordinance for the transfer of 2.02 acres of land to the Los Alamos Public Schools.

This change will improve:

  • Student and staff safety;
  • Coordination with UNM-LA and the Los Alamos community; and
  • Options for construction of a new Field House at Sullivan Field.

The new ordinance was published Aug. 29. After that, Los Alamos County will prepare the deed, which will be presented to the Los Alamos School Board for review and acceptance on Oct. 15.

African Serval Wild Cat Spotted Near Hyde Memorial State Park In Santa Fe Is Captured

SANTA FE – The search for the African serval spotted near Hyde Memorial State Park in Santa Fe has ended with its safe capture.

Conservation Officer Manuel Overby caught the approximately 30-pound male Sub-Saharan African animal early Thursday morning in a live cage and transported it to the Albuquerque BioPark for evaluation and safe keeping while a permanent home is determined. Officers also will attempt to identify the origin of its escape.
