ALBUQUERQUE – Attorney General Hector Balderas, joining a coalition of 16 attorneys general, announced today the filing of a brief in the United States Supreme Court in the coalition’s ongoing lawsuit to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
The lawsuit, originally filed in September 2017 and to be heard by the Supreme Court this fall, argues that the Trump Administration’s attempt to revoke DACA was based on a faulty legal analysis and harmed State residents, institutions, and economies. Read More

The second annual ‘Firefighter For A Day’ event was held Saturday at the Los Alamos Fire Department training facility at Station #2 on DP Road. The event provides participants with the opportunity to experience the perils that firefighters face on their job. Local Pinyon Trees Teeming With Wildlife
Much activity is spotted in recent days since the pinyon nuts have just ripened in the 30-foot tall pinyon trees growing at a residence on Andanada Street on Barranca Mesa. In the last week, all sorts of wildlife have appeared to feast on the bounty. In one day there were Steller’s and California scrub jays, pygmy and white-breasted nuthatches, ravens, spotted towhees, morning doves, chipmunks, red squirrels and even a hummingbird. The photos taken with a cannon 300mm zoom lens show how the color of the balloon changes as the sun sets into the atmosphere, turning from white to orange and then a final pearl color before the sun goes behind the earth and no longer illuminates the balloon.
