Parks & Recreation Board Hosts Special Public Meeting On Recreation Capital Projects At Fuller Lodge Aug. 28

The public is invited to attend a special Los Alamos County Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Fuller.

The purpose of the public meeting Lodge to review and comment on preliminary designs for three recreation facility projects that include the Kiddie/Mutigenerational Pool at the Aquatic Center, Piñon Park Splash Pad and Golf Course Irrigation Improvements.

WASHINGTON, D.C. The National Park Service announced Tuesday that $1.17 million in Battlefield Preservation Planning Grants for 16 battlefields across 10 states.
 
Grants will help preserve endangered battlefields representing more than 500 years of American history. Historians and preservationists will use these funds to assist in research, documentation and interpretive planning.

SFCC And SFHEC Closed On Labor Day Sept. 2

Santa Fe Community College and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will close in observance of Labor Day Monday, Sept. 2.
 
All campus facilities at both locations will be closed.
 
No classes or activities will be held and no other student services will be available. SFCC’s child development center, Kids Campus, and the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center will also be closed.

NMDOH Warns Of Vaping-Associated Lung Disease

SANTA FE The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is investigating possible cases of lung disease that are associated with vaping.
 
A 29-year old male from Bernalillo County was determined to have vaping-associated lung disease and three additional cases are under investigation. All have reported use of vape cartridges, possibly containing Tetra hydro cannabinol (THC). There have been similar cases reported in at least 14 other states.
