SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 154 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County has 2 new cases today bringing the total to 31 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update also announces 5 new deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:
- 30 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 13 new cases in Chaves County
- 1 new case in Colfax County
- 7 new cases in Curry County
- 17 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 15 new cases in Eddy County
- 9 new cases in Grant County

SANTA FE — Four additional New Mexico counties have now met the required health conditions for schools to reopen in a hybrid mode, according to the state’s updated COVID-19 map.
The Department of Health map released Thursday shows McKinley, Hidalgo, Doña Ana and Curry counties have moved into the “green zone” — which indicates an acceptable rate of average daily cases and test positivity.
Those four counties were each yellow or red when the previous map was issued two weeks ago.

Environmental Services and the Environmental Sustainability Board would like to thank all the volunteers who participated in the 17th annual Clean Up Los Alamos Day Saturday, Sept. 12.

BLM Adjusts Hours Of Operation At Santa Cruz Lake

TAOS — The Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office has adjusted the hours of operation for the Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area for the upcoming fall season.
The new hours of operation for day use are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Sunday.
The area will remain closed Monday through Wednesday.
BLM staff, volunteers and contractors have been working diligently to update and improve the recreation opportunities at Santa Cruz Lake. However, the North Shore Campground will remain closed until construction is complete. The Overlook Campground also is not available.

NMPED COVID-19 Update: 1 Student, 6 Staff Test Positive In New Mexico Public Schools In Last 24 Hours

SANTA FE – The Public Education Department (NMPED) announced today 7 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24-hours, after implementing a rapid response and verifying all pertinent information with the schools and school districts.
The following new cases were reported:
- One case at a public school in McKinley County. The infected individual is a teacher. The infected individual was last in the school building Sept. 15. All staff members and the parents and guardians of all students in the affected school have been notified of the positive case.
