BLM News:
TAOS — The Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office has adjusted the hours of operation for the Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area for the upcoming fall season.
The new hours of operation for day use are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Sunday.
The area will remain closed Monday through Wednesday.
BLM staff, volunteers and contractors have been working diligently to update and improve the recreation opportunities at Santa Cruz Lake. However, the North Shore Campground will remain closed until construction is complete. The Overlook Campground also is not available.
Due to low water levels, the boat launches at the lake are closed. Only personal watercraft should be used at this time.
“The Taos Field Office is focused on providing recreation and economic opportunities while protecting our local communities, staff and volunteers,” said BLM Taos Assistant Field Manager Judy Culver.
Visitors are reminded that when recreating they should follow the New Mexico Department of Health orders, practice Leave No Trace principles, practice social distancing and avoid high-risk outdoor activities.
