Santa Fe Community College, Kids Campus & SF Higher Education Center Sept. 4 For Labor Day

Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will observe Labor Day Monday, Sept. 4.
No classes will be held, and no student services will be available. SFCC’s child development center, Kids Campus will be closed. The William C. Witter Fitness Education Center is closed Sept. 4 and will reopen 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Fall credit and noncredit classes will resume Tuesday, Sept. 5, after the holiday. Staff at SFCC main campus (6401 Richards Ave.) and the Santa Fe HEC (1950 Siringo Road) will resume services beginning 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Judge Grants Preliminary Injunction Against Sawmill Sweet Leaf LLC For Violations Of Cannabis Regulations

SANTA FE — Judge Elaine P. Lujan of the Second Judicial District Court in Bernalillo County issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday against Sawmill Sweet Leaf LLC at 1501 Mountain Dr. NW in Albuquerque.
After hearing arguments presented by Division Counsel, Robert Sachs, the court found that the business posed a clear and immediate threat to public health and safety and therefore must cease and desist all cannabis activity immediately.

Clark has been a Staff Attorney with the Sixth Judicial District Court since 2022. Prior to that position, she served as Chief Deputy District Attorney in the Sixth Judicial District.

Today Is National Fentanyl Prevention And Awareness Day
Today, Aug. 21, 2023 is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.
DEA seized more than 58.3 million fentanyl-laced fake pills in 2022.
The DEA Laboratory has found that of the fake pills analyzed, six out of ten now contain a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl.
To spread the word of prevention and awareness, DEA has launched two initiatives to shine a light on this deadly epidemic:

Santa Fe Animal Shelter Seeking Support, Donations For Pregnant Stray Dog And Unborn Puppies
SANTA FE — Santa Fe Animal Shelter (SFAS) is seeking donations, support and eventually a loving home for a stray dog rescued on the side of I-25 that is about to give birth to a litter of puppies.

Good News Clubs Starting Up After School This Week
Good News Clubs are a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in which trained teachers meet with groups of children after school in the elementary schools.
Each week the teachers present an exciting Bible lesson, songs, a Scripture verse, missions story and review games or other activities focused on the lesson’s theme.
This fun, weekly activity promotes children’s educational, emotional, spiritual and character development. The Clubs are entirely free and voluntary.

A total of $154,754 was awarded in Micro-Grants up to $3,000 to 57 businesses surpassing previous years.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate 3.6 Percent In July 2023

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in July, up from 3.5 percent in June and unchanged from the rate in the previous year.
The national unemployment rate in July was 3.5 percent, down from 3.6 percent in June and unchanged from the rate in July 2022.
Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 26,400 jobs, or 3.1 percent, between July 2022 and July 2023. The majority of gains came from the private sector, which was up 18,300 jobs, or 2.7 percent. The public sector was up 8,100 jobs, or 4.8 percent. Wahweap Overlook in 2016 – this image and the two below were taken from the Wahweap Overlook just outside of Page, Ariz. The images were all taken from the same overlook but not necessarily the exact same angle, etc. The water level is dramatically different in each image. The 2016 image shows the water far from full level as the drought had already taken a toll on the lake level but it was still at a decent level.
