United Church Thrift Shop Grand Opening Nov. 14
UNITED CHURCH News:
The community is invited to the grand opening celebration of the United Church Thrift Shop Nov. 14.
The thrift shop’s new location at 2525 Canyon Road is in the lower level of Craig Hall, opening onto the parking lot on the west side of the church property.
The event will take place 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with door prizes.
At about 10 a.m., the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce will mark the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Read More

Tuesday, Nov. 6, PEEC will offer the first in a series of three classes on travel and nature journaling taught by Terry Foxx, Katy Korkos and Fairley Barnes.
The class is on three consecutive Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m., and costs $40 for PEEC members and $50 for all others.
This price includes all supplies and materials for the three sessions.

- 4-6 chicken breasts, cut up and fried in 5 garlic cloves that have been pressed and 1 ½ tablespoons butter & 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil. After frying set aside, reserve any liquid
- 8 Tablespoons flour
- 8 Tablespoons butter
- 4 cups chicken broth or 2 cans of progressive starters (garlic flavor)
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 small jar pimentos, drained
- 1/2 pound sliced mushrooms
- salt and pepper
- 3/4 of a 16 oz box of thin spaghetti, cook and drained
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
Huge Yard Sale to Benefit Fire Damaged Church
NBFC News:
The New Beginnings Fellowship Church will hold a benefit yard sale starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.
Anything that is donated to the yard sale will be greatly appreciated by the chuch, which suffered heavy fire damage in July.
Donations can be dropped off until noon Friday behind the church at 112 East Road.
“We are hoping for a community-wide response to help the New Beginnings Fellowship Church devastated by fire on the Fourth of July.”

A local witch invites the community to the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos annual Fall Pancake Breakfast 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. - 4 large baking potatoes
- olive oil
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 shallot, diced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 pound fresh lobster meat (or imitation)
- (you can also use turkey, shrimp, crab or chicken)
- 1/2 cup dry wine
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
