Los Alamos resident Luckie Daniels filed an 84-page lawsuit Nov. 27, 2023, against Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) alleging her rights were violated pursuant to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Daniels is the parent of a Los Alamos High School student. She is representing herself in the suit in which she names the Superintendent Jennifer Guy, Assistant Superintendent Carter Payne and members of the school board.

Española – Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation has released a new report, “Resilient Families: Helping Grandparents and Kin Raise Children in New Mexico”, detailing the growth and specific needs of kinship families in the state and making recommendations for how these families can be better supported.

State Releases Results For LAPS Waste Water Drug Testing

The Governor’s Office and New Mexico Environment Department, to ensure the health and safety of school communities, launched an innovative wastewater testing program in public schools across the state. This program is intended to serve as a proactive measure to detect and address drug use among the school population.

North Mesa Workforce Housing Project Moves Forward With Joint Effort Of County And Los Alamos Public Schools

On Dec. 18, 2023, the Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Board and Los Alamos County Council took a pivotal step toward making attainable workforce housing a reality in the community. Both entities jointly approved the North Mesa Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), paving the way for a comprehensive review and development plan for the LAPS-owned property on North Mesa.
The MOA sets in motion a collaborative process involving a consultant/partner who will:
