Sports are important in many people’s lives, whether watching or playing them. Lori Thompson loves sports so much that she even includes them in her lesson plans. Skyrocketing from Phoenix, Ariz., Thompson was raised in a small town in Michigan until she was 16.

Texas Tech Wins 4th Ranch Horse National Championship

Texas Tech University’s Ranch Horse Team claimed its fourth consecutive national championship and captured individual titles across all three divisions at the National Intercollegiate Ranch and Stock Horse Association national championships last week in Amarillo.
The Ranch Horse Team is judged in four disciplines – cow work, reining, ranch trail and ranch riding – with two riders in each division compiling their scores to make up the overall team score.

JEMEZ SPRINGS — Valles Caldera Ntional Preserve invites community members to join a ranger this summer and experience the park like never before.
Rangers will be offering special programs throughout the season. Join a ranger to learn how to tie a fly, journal about nature, or learn about a special part of the park. Additional special programs that require reservations include fishing clinics, full-moon hikes, star-gazing programs, and astrophotography workshops.

SANTA FE – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced today that Seven Los Alamos Seniors and one from Albuquerque have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards. They are among approximately 770 distinguished high school seniors to receive the honor.

UNM-Los Alamos is hosting its 43rd Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road.
