Daily Postcard: The view of Comet NEOWISE viewed at 4:30 a.m. Friday from the back deck of a residence in Quemazon. The beautiful comet is visible to the naked eye around 4:30 a.m. in Los Alamos for the next few days. In another week or so, it should be visible in the evening, if the brightness does not dim too much during that time. It was definitely visible with naked eye in the NE and through binoculars. Comet NEOWISE – discovered back in March by NASA’s NEOWISE mission – is getting the attention of skywatchers across the Northern Hemisphere this month. The comet survived its recent closest approach to the Sun, and is now headed back toward the outer solar system, where it travels to a farthest distance of 715 astronomical units, or AU, from the Sun. The community is invited to watch a live, Zoom-cast play, Almost Treason: A Revolutionary Whimsy in Honor of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage.
‘Almost Treason’ is written by Los Alamos playwright Robert Benjamin and directed by Duchess Dale.
This is a fanciful, tale about the 1777 printing of the Declaration of Independence and early advocacy for Women’s Suffrage, inspired by the heroism of Mary Goddard, an unsung foremother.
