PEEC News:

Would your child like to build a wind turbine, cook in a solar oven or craft a water filtration system? You are in luck! The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities are offering a new, online Conservation Camp!

This camp is for students entering 4th to 6th grade. The camp will take place virtually Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24. It’s free to participate in, but registration is required and space is limited to 20 campers. Campers will spend the week doing hands-on activities and talking with other kids about conservation.

Each day will start on Zoom 9-10 a.m. with a check in. During that time, the group will talk about different conservation topics and learn about the day’s project. Then, campers will have time offline to work on their projects. Finally, participants will meet back on Zoom 4-5 p.m. so everyone can share their projects! PEEC educator Elizabeth Watts will lead this camp.

PEEC and the DPU will provide campers with all the materials they need to participate except for a computer and Internet access. Visit peecnature.org/events to register now. Space is limited to 20 campers, so sign up soon! Participants will receive instructions on picking up materials and joining the Zoom meetings via email. If you have any questions, email elizabeth@peecnature.org.
